Road Safety CIP

Saturday, November 13, 2004

I learnt a lot of things today.
Most apparent of all, road safety.
I had never participated in such carnivals before.
Because my primary schoold never orgainsed it.
Probably it was only my year.

Anyway, I was a pedestrian.
Partly because my other team members wanted to ride the Go-kart and the bicycle. Partly because I could not cycle.
Confidently thought that i could breeze through the route. All you had to do was to follow the route, keep to the pathways, and don't jaywalk right? Yes, but I got 3 summons.
2 for not obeying the kerb drill.
In other words, i forgot to look left, right, then left again when crossing. the other was for forgetting to raise my hand when i crossed the road. I forgot?
Haha. Probably.
Moreover, wouldn't we look like a complete fool by raising my hand when crossing the road?

Even before the event started, the children were so enthusiastic about the whole thing. they bounced up and down, chased each other, and disturbed each other playfully. The synergy was infectious.

Their vibrance was a stark contrast to my jadedness.
Their eyes shine, they smile at every thing that happens.
Be they how small, how insignificant or how unimportant.

A small child is not aware of its innocence.
His or her innocent nature is completely unconscious.
But soon, the child's purity and innocence will begin to disappear. Impurity and ignorance will take their place.
The qualities of wonder and joy, imagination and faith that we see in a child are short-lived.
As long as a child remains a child, his innocence is there.
But a child changes.
